Alistrati’s Cave

The cave of Alistrati is considered to be one of the largest and most beautiful ones in Greece and in Europe and is the only cave operating in Macedonia. The cave was known to the locals for many years, but Hellenic Speleological Society was informed about its existence only in 1975 after Alistrati community sent relevant documenta.

It was only then that started its organized exploration. Its explored surface reaches 25.000 sq. m and its stalagmites and stalactites are of unique beauty.
